Sometimes during OpenAM development, such as when you add or update LDAP schema elements, you need new object identifiers (OIDs). Any element defined and shipped as part of the OpenAM project must have a numeric OID, and new OIDs must be assigned from the OpenAM assigned space, which under the ForgeRock enterprise number.

The base OID assigned for LDAP OIDs in the OpenAM project is "1.3.6.1.4.1.36733.2.2", where as for SNMP the OpenAM base is "1.3.6.1.4.1.36733.1.2".

If you need one or more OIDs for something you are working on, do not assign them yourself by editing these documents. Instead, send a request via email to the project lead(s).

In the request, please include:

  • A description of each element for which you need an OID and the context in which it will be used.
  • For schema elements, provide the proposed schema definition in a format acceptable by OpenDJ (e.g., presented in LDIF format compliant with RFC 4512, identical to the other LDIF schema files).
