This section details the concepts that we consider necessary for a story to be ready to start work.

An explanation of the work to be undertaken. This does not need to be exhaustive but should be at least detailed enough to pass the following two tests:

  • Can the work be understood by a non-development member of staff?
  • Does the description cover enough detail to apply a story point value?

The opening paragraph should ideally capture at a high level the work that needs to be undertaken.

Additional paragraphs and sections can be used to expand on the detail as understood by the developers. This might include areas that are known to be impacted, associated protocols or specifications, risks or impacts for the proposed work.
